Augusta University, invites applications for a 12-month faculty position in the Bachelors of Science Respiratory Therapy Program housed in the Department of Undergraduate Health Professions, College of Allied Health Sciences. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include the development and delivery of lectures and laboratory courses, teaching in the classroom, online, laboratory and clinical rotations. The candidate should expect to teach 24 credit hours or the equivalent during the year. Additional responsibilities include service and assisting with recruitment activities, admissions and advisement processes for the program; assisting the Program Director with program-related assessment and administrative tasks, and providing service (public, professional and institutional) and research/scholarly activity in accordance with effort allocation. Candidates will find an academic environment that encourages research activities such as professional presentations and publication of peer reviewed articles. This is a 12-month appointment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The Board of Regents and Augusta University are committed to helping employees pursue growth and development. The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is designed to promote professional growth of full-time employees. Tuition assistance is the waiver of up to nine hours of tuition for employees enrolled in courses on the Augusta University campus and at other University System of Georgia (USG) institutions per semester.

Minimum Requirements         

Minimum qualifications at the time of employment include a Bachelor’s degree with plans to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree in the next few years, the RRT credential, eligibility for a Georgia RCP license, and proven experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with current clinical experience in ICU. Advanced credentials and experience in classroom, laboratory, or clinical instruction courses in an accredited respiratory therapy program or a hospital based educational setting are expected.

   

Preferred Qualifications         

Preferred qualifications include at least two years on the faculty of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program, a masters or doctoral degree; demonstrated interpersonal, technical, and educational skills for organization and delivery of professional discipline content, curriculum, implementation of instruction, counseling, and evaluation; high-level knowledge and skills with web-based learning platforms such as Desire2Learn, ECHO 360, interactive educational techniques/technology, distance learning; ability to collaborate with several academic programs, departments, faculty and clinical affiliates; ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact, discretion and professionalism; commitment to student success, goal oriented and enthusiastic with the ability to adapt to change; excellent presentation; computer literacy with MS Office Suite (Word, Power-Point, Excel); willingness to accept leadership roles in areas of need in the program.
