The position provides administrative support with responsibilities that include a broad range of duties associated with the proper operation and smooth functioning of the department. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

•Functions as a generalist within assigned areas of responsibility
•Evaluates student needs and initiates steps to find a resolution
•Assesses nature and severity of student issues; reviews each case to ensure compliance with College policies and procedures and follows up with the respective department accordingly
•Conducts necessary research to assist with refund petitions, grade appeals, service grant awards and students requesting financial assistance
•Reviews monthly updates from several campus departments for inclusion in final report to the Dean, Campus President and College President
•Drafts and assists with communications for the Campus President and Dean on speeches and remarks
•Compiles and organizes information for reports requested by District
•Facilitates admissions process for students
•Provides disciplinary history of students in need of clearance for high-level security positions at the request of the U.S. Office of the Personnel Management and other government entities
•Serves as a time-keeper for designated areas, as needed
•Acts as liaison between the Department Heads and other college-wide departments and faculty members
•Oversees special projects and presentations assigned
•Verifies eligibility for faculty applying for continuing contracts, promotions and/or endowed teaching chairs
•Performs other duties as assigned

•Bachelor’s in related field and six (6) years of experience in student services administration, teaching or other appropriate experience; or Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience in student services administration, teaching or other appropriate experience
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
•Knowledge of spreadsheets and Microsoft Office software applications
•Ability to resolve or refer problems to appropriate areas
•Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
•Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
•Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
•Ability to exercise judgment and maintain strict confidentiality
•Ability to work under pressure and manage simultaneous projects effectively
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
•Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
