Description of primary duties and responsibilities::

Career Services (CS) is looking for a tech-savvy, energetic, motivated, hard-working undergraduate or graduate student to join our team. The student should possess skills related to social media, communication, marketing, and design in order to assist with managing CS social media presence.

Description of Work Continued::

Major Responsibilities:

•Working with the Graphic Designer and Media Content Specialist, develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan for social media content management which includes current social media sites, incorporating the Office’s mission and goals
•Meet with staff to plan and develop content, style and appearance for sites
•Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
•Online outreach and promotion using Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
•Assist with the coordination/marketing of Career Services’ events and other campus activities
•Consistent maintenance of CS’s student involved social media pages (Facebook, other ideas)
•Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages campus and community constituents to participate in CS’ campus events
•Set up and optimize CS’ pages within each platform to increase the visibility of CS’s social content
•Moderate all user-generated content in line with University policies
•Create editorial calendars/deadlines for information gathering and sharing
•Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
•Foster and collaborate with other departments across campus to develop a working relationship with student media teams, identifying key players and coordinating any actions that may be needed
•Recommend new social media tools, sites, and apps as part of the social media mix
•Report technical problems to IT support staff
•Obtain content approval from CS Director/Assistant Director before any content is posted on any sites
•Other duties as assigned.

• 20 hours per week
• Hourly wage of $10.00
• Specific work hours are flexible within the M-F; 8am – 5pm work days; some evenings may be required
and will be arranged directly with the employee
•Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the applicant may be doing some teleworking. The supervisor will clearly define telework expectations with the employee.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::

• Undergraduate/Graduate Student with experience in social media/communications/public relations/
marketing/journalism
•Must have experience with social media platforms (specifically, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn)
•Creative and collaborative with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn new and innovative approaches to
social media
•Understand the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
• Professionalism, including the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
•Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking skills
• Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
• Demonstrate social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and be detailed oriented
•Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
•Work in a highly collaborative environment supporting the mission and goals of CS while reporting to the Assistant Director of Career Services

Knowledge skills and abilities::

• Knowledge of or comfort in working online with various social media sites
• Strong skills or proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite
• Experience in digital communications and marketing

Preferred Qualifications::

• Experience or proficiency with contributing to and regularly updating external social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

Current full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are employed as student employees by Fayetteville State University are unable to work more than 20 hours per week total. This provision includes any job in which the student receives compensation from Fayetteville State University
