The dental assistant reporting to the Patient Treatment Center Manager is an integral member of the Prosthodontic Clinical team providing support to the residents for quality of dental care to patients at Boston University School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM). The dental assistant demonstrates strong clinical skills by practicing four handed dentistry, preparing operatories for the required treatment, ensuring assigned operatories are cleaned and disinfected between each patient being seen by the residents, sets up for the next patient, and prepares instrument cassettes for sterilization according to established protocol.

Organizing and coordinating inventory of supplies to avoid shortage, restock cabinets, organize and disinfect the prosthodontic residents lab area, take radiographs and provides coverage during evening clinic hours. Displays compassion, understanding and empathy towards patients during treatment. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, promotes teamwork among the staff and Faculty, and strives to make each phase of the patient treatment a positive experience from initial appointment on through the completion of dental care. Bilingual preferred but not required.

Schedule: MON - FRI 8:30-5:30PM: Evening Clinic on Monday and Wednesday 5 - 7:00PM.

Required Skills
  • Applicant must model proper patient management/communication with Students.
  • Required to maintain dental assisting licensure by attending appropriate CE courses.
  • Required to maintain DANB Certifications if applicant has earned this specific certification
  • 1-3 years of applicable work experience required
  • Applicant formally trained through an accredited dental assisting program is highly desired
  • DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certificate preferred
