Department Summary:

The Department of Educational Psychology is one of four departments in the College of Education. The College offers 12 bachelor’s degrees, 19 master’s and 15 doctoral concentrations with over 100 faculty that provide the training and field experience needed to teach people how to live more productive lives. The Department of Educational Psychology currently offers a BS degree and two masters degrees in Educational Psychology and Special Education. Two PhDs are offered, one in Educational Psychology, and one in Special Education. The Educational Psychology PhD program is presently organized around three concentrations: (i) Research Methodology, Measurement, & Statistics, (ii) Human Development & Family Science, and (iii) Gifted and Talented Education. In addition, the Educational Psychology PhD supports concentrations in (iv) Psychosocial Aspects of Sport, and (v) Sport Pedagogy and Motor Behavior in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation.

Position Summary:

The Department invites applications for an appointment at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall, 2021. The position is for an applicant with expertise in quantitative methodology. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department and growing the graduate programs in Research Methodology, Measurement, and Statistics (doctoral) and Research and Evaluation Methodology (master’s) through research, teaching, and mentoring of students. Instructional roles may primarily include teaching graduate level courses in research methodology, including quantitative analysis and research design/methods. Traditional, online, and teaching at satellite sites may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to develop or continue an ongoing scholarship agenda in quantitative methodology. Expected scholarship includes regular publications in quality outlets, professional presentations, and submission of external grant proposals. Service on dissertation committees is expected both in the department and across the college, as well as representation of the discipline and department via committee participation and other relevant service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Research Methodology, Quantitative Methods, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field with strong focus on quantitative methodology and research design. ABD candidates will be considered as long as the doctorate is successfully defended prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with ability to teach courses in advanced data analysis such as multivariate statistics, simulation studies, and structural equation modeling. Preference will be given to candidates that are able to work with faculty and students with applied research interests in education and psychology. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research experience, as well as external funding or the potential for external funding, commensurate with rank.
