As a member of NCAA Division I, the College must provide academic counseling services and tutoring services to all student-athletes. Such counseling and tutoring services may be provided by the department of athletics or the institution’s non-athletics student support services. Due to additional eligibility requirements, missed class time due to team travel, and other special circumstances, this position will assist the Dir. of Academic Services in providing specialized eligibility counseling and tutorial services for the student-athletes at William & Mary. This position allows our athletic department to continue to enhance the general services offered by the non-athletics student support services.Required Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
•Basic knowledge of class registration procedures, course selection and major criteria,
•Minimal knowledge of the NCAA continuing eligibility requirements.
•Demonstrated ability to build trust with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and administrators
•Knowledge of the counseling skills and motivational techniques to help at-risk students become successful;
•Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
•Education: Masters degree or graduate courses.
•Working knowledge in an academic support office at an NCAA Division I member institution or related area of higher education administration (e.g. admissions, student affairs, counseling). Grad assistantship can be included in this experience.

• Ability to travel and attend competitions at night and on weekends when required.
• Evening, weekend and work outside of normal duty hours required, mostly during academic year.
• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc.
• This is a restricted position subject to availability of funding.
