Position Summary:

William & Mary has received an ADVANCE Partnership grant from the National Science Foundation to address the lack of gender equity within IS academia. The grant activities are a major strategic opportunity for the Association of Information Systems. The NSF ADVANCE budget includes funds for a part-time Program Coordinator to assist with administrative management of the project. This is a restricted position and the grant period is from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2023.

The Program Coordinator will assist the faculty investigators of the ADVANCE Partnership grant recently awarded to William and Mary by the National Science Foundation. The Program Coordinator will play an essential role in the success of the grant work.

The part-time (~20 hours per week) Program Coordinator will create and maintain a William & Mary and/or Association of Information Systems (AIS) ADVANCE grant website, schedule workshops, events, advisory board meetings, reserve space as needed, complete necessary grant-related paperwork, etc.

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree
•Knowledge and proficiency in word-processing, calendar and scheduling management, and spreadsheet management, particularly using Microsoft Office products.
•Ability to learn new software, such as Drupal, Qualtrics, and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
•Excellent writing skills, both evidence-based and promotional.
•Strong foundation of quantitative reasoning. Interest and capability to learn and improve skills in data management (e.g., pivot tables), data analysis, data presentation, and descriptive statistics.
•Interest and capability to develop skills in visual-intensive communication such as infographics.
•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and efficiently with a variety of offices and constituents (faculty, staff, administrators, external professionals and the NSF).
•Ability to be proactive and work in a self-directed manner, ability to multi-task and prioritize.
•Judgement to handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher level. Commitment to confidentiality.
•Enthusiasm about the ADVANCE project’s mission of gender equity and consideration of intersectional identities.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Master’s Degree.
•2 to 4 year’s administrative experience.

Some weekend work may be necessary.

All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year.

This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

This is a funding and term restricted position – The grant period is from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2023.
