Environmental Laboratory Technician

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for an Environmental Laboratory Technician. Position is a full-time annual appointment based in the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies’ Environmental Quality Laboratory. This facility conducts research and monitoring in the coastal and inland waters of northeastern South Carolina. To read more about the Environmental Quality Lab, see: https://www.coastal.edu/eql/

Duties will include, but are not limited to: measuring water quality parameters, such as chlorophyll, nutrients, BOD5, organic carbon, and fecal bacteria using quality assurance/quality control practices required to generate regulatory data; calibrating and maintaining lab and field equipment; conducting data management, including statistical analyses; field sampling, including use of datasondes; and performing other duties as assigned including administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in science (e.g. chemistry, biology, marine science, geology, environmental science) is required. Specialized experience with water quality sampling and analysis is required. Must maintain a valid SC driver’s license. Two (2) years experience is preferred. A successful candidate must comply with the EQL’s standard operating procedures and quality control practices; and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

Two (2) years experience.

Required Licensure and/or Certification

Must be able to gain approval to operate Coastal Carolina University vehicles, including obtaining and maintaining a valid SC driver’s license.

Must comply with the EQL’s standard operating procedures and quality control practices, and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional comments regarding this position
