General Summary of Position:

The office of the Registrar is the official keeper of academic records and is committed to the highest level of service. The office of the Registrar is also responsible for registration services, scheduling, academic progression and graduation. As a primary information resource for students and faculty this office actively seeks ways to effectively communicate and to inform students of their rights, responsibilities and procedures. As a service orientated office, in addition to providing efficient and immediate access to information, this office facilities and coordinates activities of students and faculty pertaining to administrative matters. The office of the Registrar pledges to be an exemplary model within the University for service and execution of duty.

The Transfer Credit Specialist is responsible for coordinating the communication with academic departments and Transfer Coordinators to streamline the review of courses that have not previously been evaluated and inputting equivalencies into the transfer credit dictionary and posting to student records. This includes facilitating the more individualized review and evaluation for military and international transcripts. The Transfer Credit Specialist also enters transfer equivalencies into SiS and the transfer credit dictionary as articulation agreements are finalized. The Transfer Credit Specialist also coordinates the NECCUM cross registration program. In addition to the duties listed above, the Transfer Credit Specialist will assist the registrar’s office as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with related experience in higher education, academic policies, and working with academic departments to support transfer credit evaluations

***In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, consideration will be given to those with HS Diploma/GED or equivalent plus 3-5 years of related higher education experience in a professional capacity

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other student information systems
  • Experience with relational database, Microsoft Word, Excel and Image Now

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comparable Higher Education Experience
  • SiS experience preferred
  • Ability to respond to difficult situations diplomatically
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of (FERPA) Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Ability to perform all related Office of the Registrar tasks
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff and students in a highly effective and professional manner
