The Department of Nutrition Science has 14 full-time faculty members to support an undergraduate program of nearly 200 students and a distance education graduate program of 50 students. In addition to Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree programs, The Department of Nutrition Science houses ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and the supervised dietetic internship programs (DI). Areas of research within the department extend across the lifespan to include metabolic dysfunction, obesity-related pathophysiology, immunity, food literacy, nutritional assessment of vulnerable populations, diet quality, weight management and disease prevention. Our faculty have strong collaborations with the College of Health and Human Performance, Nursing, School of Dentistry and Brody School of Medicine. Brody School of Medicine is a leader in obesity research, cardiovascular health, and endocrinology, and affords collaborative teaching/research opportunities. Job Duties

The FEEd Lab Project Coordinator will primarily support project faculty and staff in research endeavors (e.g. data collection and management, support for manuscript and grant proposal development) and professional development outreach activities (e.g. teacher training workshops and/or events). The primary purpose of the position will be to provide programmatical and research support for the National Institutes of Health-funded More PEAS Please! Grant. The Project Coordinator has to maintain a culture of compliance in research and quality control to ensure adherence to federal, state, and university regulations; areas covered include, but are not limited to human ethics and data collection/analysis practices. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, maintaining communication with the grant team and stakeholders; administering program activities and staff related to PEAS; supporting program marketing and media activities; working with Department staff to meet purchasing needs (e.g. equipment, supplies); conducting site visits to obtain consent and collect data from teachers/families/children; managing social media (i.e. facebook, twitter) and webpage content; and providing information about the program and program outcomes to the public (e.g. press release, technical report writing). The Project Coordinator will be a member of the Department of Nutrition Science staff and will report directly to the FEEd Lab Director, Dr. Virginia C. Stage. This part-time (.75 FTE) professional position will also require an on-site presence in partner Head Start center and at training workshops on the state and national level. The position will be contracted on a yearly basis and is contingent on funding.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Excellent organization and time management; ability to handles changes in work volume and intensity. Excellent writing skills, interpersonal skills, and judgement, as well as the ability to present information in a clear and effective manner. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task. Creativity and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in MS Word, MD Excel, Powerpoint, reference/publication management software, and research databases.
