Position Description:
As a key member of the leadership team within the Human Resources unit in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the incumbent will serve as the department Academic Human Resources Specialist. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Academic Human Resources Analyst, the incumbent will participate in academic personnel under Graduate Division guidelines. S/he is directly responsible for leading the complete range of personnel actions including advising employees regarding payroll, personnel policies, and best practices as well as ensuring adherence to all applicable University, State, and Federal employment and personnel practices, laws, and agreements, as applicable.

The incumbent will administer the workforce administration of academic new hires, current employees and separating employees. Under the direction and guidance of the Lead Academic Human Resources Analyst, the incumbent will assist in academic training compliance, payroll functions and processes consistent with the University personnel and payroll systems. The incumbent will also assist in the maintenance of current academic physical and digital personnel files.

In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
