The Admissions Counselor assists prospective students in navigating the college selection process. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Director of Admissions, and will be responsible for recruiting, admitting and enrolling a talented and diverse student body.Scope of Responsibilities:
This position will establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. Responsible for recruiting prospective high school and community college students and be required to make presentations and travel extensively. Participates in various outreach activities including but not limited to college fairs and academic presentations to recruit students and promote Alcorn State University. Processes applications and builds relationships with students and counselors in their prospective territory.Essential Job Functions :
•Coordinate with the Director of Admissions and Recruiting in developing and maintain an overall plan and strategy for student admission processing.
•Initiate and monitors efficient completion and processing of applications, including entry and maintenance of information into Slate CRM and Ellucian Banner Student Information System.
•Scanning, indexing, and processing admissions documents to compile and create complete and accurate records of admission materials.
•Maintaining admission checklists for on-line application status and communicating with applicants to make them aware of missing documentation.
•Evaluate all transcript and test scores for applicants.
•Communicating with applicants during application and admission decision cycle in a timely manner
•Responsible for continuous review of assigned application dashboards to facilitate application completion.
•Determines the eligibility for admission and renders admission decisions in accordance with policy
•Performing other related duties as assigned and/or directed.
