Purpose of Job:

To provide students with experiential learning opportunities to develop them academically and professionally. This experience will help students to explore career fields, pursue graduate studies and build professional skills.

Scope of Responsibilities:

In addition to developing and enforcing a good work ethic, positive attitude and excellent customer service, the student will learn the “behind the scenes” efforts involved in maintaining our childcare and/or nutrition laboratories and other programs in the Department of Human Sciences.

Essential Job Functions :

The student research assistant under the mentorship of a faculty/staff member from the department of Human Sciences will assist in the various research and other functions of the department. In doing so, students will perform the following responsibilities:
•Conduct literature reviews
•Collect and analyze data
•Prepare materials for IRB review
•Attend project and related meetings
•Assist in preparation of research manuscripts, modules and presentations
•Assist with the Child Development Learning Center
•Assist with the Human Sciences Tutoring Services


•The applicant must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing, in either Child Development/Human Development and Family Studies or Food, Nutrition and Community Health Sciences programs in the department of Human Sciences.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

•GPA of 2.5 or above
•Maintain a full-time status (12 hours of enrollment)
•Willingness to learn
