Director of Clinical Education and Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College is excited to announce a search for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Director of Clinical Education to assist in the development and implementation of an innovative Doctor of Physical Therapy Program built on a liberal arts foundation. The program will prepare physical therapists who will be able to navigate the complexities of future health care systems with strong skills in movement science, relationship and patient/client centered care, professionalism, communication, and technology focused on the pursuit of excellence. We are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our team as the Director of Clinical Education. This individual will primarily be responsible for the initial development and ongoing maintenance of the clinical education components of the program, including clinical site partnership development, development of student site selection procedures, and development of integrated clinical experiences. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to shape the future of the program during the development phase by assisting with overall curricular design, and development of curriculum relevant to their content area of expertise. Individuals who enjoy working collaboratively with others, are passionate about clinical education, enjoy working closely with students, and have an interest in being innovative in physical therapy education are encouraged to apply. The preferred start date is January 1, 2021 with an expected start no later than June 1, 2021.

The successful applicant is required to have an earned clinical (DPT) or academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, etc.) from an accredited institution (academic doctorate preferred); be a licensed physical therapist in the state of Illinois or be eligible for and have intent to obtain physical therapist licensure in Illinois; a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience (or equivalent) as a licensed physical therapist; a minimum of 2 years of clinical practice as a CCCE and/or clinical instructor, or 2 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapy program; the ability to function well within a collegial and collaborative environment; ability to live by and role model the mission, vision, values, and commitment of the North Central College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and evidence of contemporary expertise in one or more content areas taught within physical therapy curriculum. It is preferred the successful candidate have evidence of an ongoing or developing record of a scholarly agenda or the potential to develop a scholarly agenda consistent with the mission of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
