Under the general supervision of the CEC Space and Facilities Coordinator, the facilities assistant is responsible for performing a full range of skilled journeying-level work in painting, finishing and maintaining a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive learning environment, and to assist the college employees with minor handyman support needs. The facilities assistant makes decisions based upon sound maintenance practices.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

High school diploma and directly related trade experience.

Preferred Qualifications

4 years experience of trade related experience to include painting.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Work knowledge requires knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the painting trade including painting, finishing, drywall and and paperhanging, and a thorough knowledge of the applicable State OSHA codes and regulations.

Ability to apply paints and finishes neatly and accurately; mix paints and finishes and match colors; selected the most appropriate materials and estimate cos and time associated.
