Department Summary:The Caruth Police Institute, a Center of Excellence at the University of North Texas at Dallas, was founded in 2008 to advance the field of policing through research and training. Through innovative partnerships with the City of Dallas, UNT Dallas, and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, CPI provides leadership training to law enforcement personnel throughout the North Texas region, as well as policy analysis, research, and consulting.
Position Summary:Graduate Student Proctor for Caruth Police Institute are responsible for proctoring in-person leadership courses for police officers and non-sworn law enforcement personnel.
Responsibilities include:
—management and documentation of COVID-19 safety protocols
—daily class set-up and/or close-down
—ensuring course attendance documentation is maintained and recorded
—facilitation of technical support for students and presenters
—serving as a liaison between CPI staff, students and presenters
—providing excellent customer service to CPI students and presenters
Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, UNT Dallas College of Law, HSC or UNT student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion graduate degree program. Applicants must possess the following:
- Excellent customer service skills, as well as demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks independently.
- Proficiency to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports from such records.
- Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
- Responsible, reliable and punctual.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work of others.
- Considerable knowledge of academic requirements and policies, or of administrative procedures relative to the area of employment.
—Experience in public safety environments
—Ability to problem-solve in stressful situations
—Basic knowledge of presentation software (PowerPoint, Prezzi, etc) and hardware (projectors, slide advancers, etc.)
—Familiarity with UNT Dallas technical support procedures and contacts.
Applicants must be available between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for scheduled courses. Work schedule date and times will vary based upon CPI course schedule and minimum enrollment requirements.
Work location may vary based upon course scheduling.
