Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is excited to announce recruitment for a student-centered position in Enrollment Services. The Student Support Technician works directly with students through a variety of different communication methods such as email, virtual, telephone and in person conversations. This position will work with a many different student groups to provide assistance and guidance with general institutional information, the admissions process, course offering information, registration and enrollment, verification of residency and procurement of academic records. This position will also help with other shared office duties such as the scanning and filing of documents, responding to the general departmental email box and answering incoming phone calls.

LTCC is proud to offer a variety of degree and certification programs to students. Enrollment Services is a student's first stop to registering for classes either to complete a degree, continue their education, or transfer to a four-year institution. Serving about 3,000 each quarter, students can pursue a wide variety of interests at LTCC such as the Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy program and offerings in allied health, business administration, commercial music, criminal justice, digital media, and wilderness education. The college calendar is based on the quarter system, with each quarter 12 weeks long. Following the three quarters there is a six-week summer session.

This position is full-time, non-exempt from overtime compensation, and is scheduled 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Hours are expected to be Monday-Friday, generally within the hours of 8 am to 5 pm; hours may vary according to the needs of the department. Preferred start date:01/04/2021 Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment Services, assist students and the public by providing information and appropriate materials; enroll students; support students using online services; perform drops, adds, and changes; collect fees; determine and verify residency; process admission applications, forms, requests, petitions, census rosters, and academic records; research discrepancies; determine athletic eligibility; and provide a variety of customer and student support services, clerical, and data entry functions.

Representative Duties:

Perform duties in support of the One Stop, admissions, records, registration, and student support functions; determine and verify residency; process admission applications; register students into classes; process forms and record transactions; collect fees; assist students with adds, drops and changes; perform general admissions, records, and student services functions; support students using online services including Open CCCApply, Passport, and WebAdvisor; and supports special programs such as South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium, Institutional Service Agreements and other related initiatives/programs.

Provide quality customer service to students and visitors in person and using communication technologies such as phone or email; greet visitors; provide requested materials or information; respond to and record prospective student inquiries; explain processes and procedures; refer students to other offices, programs, and services; and assist employees who interact with The One Stop.

Prepare, distribute, and collect rosters, forms, and other materials; preserve confidentiality of student information; prepare, scan, and index incoming transcripts and other records; maintain student files; process transcript and enrollment verification requests; check transcripts and other records for accuracy; perform athletic eligibility functions; compile data and records for review; and perform routine data entry.

Receive payments for tuition and fees; balance cash drawer; prepare daily cash recap; provide a variety of support duties as needed; prepare and maintain files; answer phones; open and sort mail; compose correspondence; prepare copies; order office supplies; process work orders; order forms; maintain department in safe and orderly condition; and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college level course work and two years of customer service and/or clerical experience.

Knowledge of:

  • District policies and procedures governing One Stop, admissions, records and student services.
  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Reception and telephone etiquette.
  • General clerical and record-keeping techniques.
  • Cash handling techniques and methods.
  • Basic letter and report writing practices.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

Ability to:

  • Operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software.
  • Make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Analyze problems, correct and recommend solutions utilizing established procedures.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Provide quality customer service for the One Stop, admissions, records and student services.
  • Learn and apply the rules and regulations of the assigned office.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of work.
