Your opportunity:

The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts & Science. It is a highly respected, highly competitive program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 2900 in-program undergraduate business students well as over 13,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Rotman Commerce offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.

As the Relationship Manager, reporting to the Associate Director Careers - Corporate Relations, you will be responsible for the development of quality, high-level external partnerships within a corporate sector, as well as providing the highest quality of career development services to students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping well-informed on career development trends and best-practices
  • Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
  • Analyzing and recommending actions to increase employers' visibility
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for employer engagement activities
  • Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts
  • Advising students on employment options and strategies to achieve their career goals
  • Promoting employer jobs and engagement on campus with students
  • Probing for information from employers to establish activitiesthat best meet student learning needs

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus Post Graduate Certificate (i.e. CHRL designation) or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience. A relevant Masters' Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum five years full-time, relevant, progressively more senior experience within the portfolio's industry sector, preferably in human resources, recruitment or other related field.
  • Knowledge of career services industry and university recruitment is required.
  • Experience providing coaching/guidance is required.
  • Demonstrated success with business development in a direct, client facing capacity.
  • Proven abilityto design and implement interactive learning programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on influencing others.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to lead large group presentations; ability to utilize new technology.
  • Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously under minimal supervision.
  • Possesses a deep, as well as broad, understanding of assigned market sector and career development within sector; knowledge of industry career options, trends and opportunities.
  • Must have a good understanding of business students and employment markets, and job search skills.
  • Outstanding customer service focus essential; able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders.
  • Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters; demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills; strong working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience in marketing, developing marketing strategies and promotional materials.
  • Travel within the GTA is required.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Career coaching certification is a definite asset.
  • Experience with databases and Content Management Systems.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle.
