Under the Direction of direction of the dean of Liberal Arts, manager of the Honors Program and Liberal Arts Student Support Services, and the program coordinator of American Sign Language, the American Sign Language Lab Assistant will maintain and prepare the American Sign Language lab for: tutoring services, instructional use; maintain and prepare tutoring lab equipment for student and instructional use; maintain inventory of supplies and equipment in tutoring lab, inform program coordinator or manager when supplies or equipment need to be repaired, replaced or replenished; assist students and American Sign Language faculty with demonstrations and hands-on activities; supervise student employees; perform related duties as assigned.
The American Sign Language Lab Assistant will be working closely with the grant department and up to 20 participants involved in the American Sign Language Grant program. The American Sign Language Lab Assistant is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and
Associate of Art’s degree and/or a minimum of 3 years of ASL instruction or tutoring experience or related experience required. Experience with supervising others and creating/giving presentations preferred.Qualifications:
A qualified candidate must:
1.)Fluent in American Sign Language (native signer preferred).
2.)Have phone or VP skills
3.)Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Word and Excel and presentation software
4.)Ability to work remotely. Applicant must have access to high-speed internet and webcam capabilities. Applicant will be working on Zoom.
15 hours per week
Monday and Wednesday – 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Tuesday and Thursday – 10:00 am to 1:30 pm
