Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for Development, the Director for Major Gifts will be responsible for managing her/his own portfolio of prospects with a clearly defined financial goal. Additionally, the Director will serve as a liaison to at least one of the University’s schools and colleges, working with the Dean and an advisory board to grow fundraising efforts and alumni outreach. The Director will work independently and in coordination with the Alumni Affairs and Special Events division of the Office for Development, as well as with at least one Dean and other university offices and divisions. The Director should be a seasoned professional in major gift fundraising and constituent relations. This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in higher education, with a proven track record of major gift solicitations and volunteer management. Must have experience in prospect cultivation, one-on-one solicitation and prospect stewardship. The Director must have demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles, effective interpersonal and organizational skills, and an ability to work with diverse constituencies with professionalism and diplomacy, and be adept in managing multiple projects under demanding deadlines. Candidates must also possess exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills and strong writing ability, solid organizational abilities, and a commitment to the mission of the university.

In addition, the Director must be able to travel and to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed, and be proficient in computer applications; knowledge of Banner Systems is a plus.
