The Center for Experimental Ethnography at the University of Pennsylvania is an interdisciplinary and cross-school research center and creative lab that promotes ethical, engaged, and experimental multi-modal research that is generated ethnographically.We coordinate scholarship, research, and public partnerships related to multi-modal work practices; consolidate those activities in which we (and our students) are already engaged; and grow these generative connections by hosting Visiting Scholars, coordinating workshops and conferences, supporting undergraduate and graduate research, engaging with arts and community-based institutions throughout Philadelphia, and forging connections with other like-minded institutions worldwide.
The part-time (20 hours/week) administrative assistant will, under limited supervision, provide varied administrative support for the Center and its Fellows and affiliated faculty.Major job functions include assisting Visiting Fellows with all aspects of their time at Penn; developing material for the monthly CEE newsletter; managing the email and newsletter lists; managing CEE social media accounts; coordinating equipment loans and returns; assisting with event planning and advertising events, including designing and disseminating flyers; and otherwise assisting with activities of the Center, including fundraising and the development of new partnerships and initiatives.
H.S. Diploma or GED Required, with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with film, sound, performance or other visual or audio production is a plus.The ideal candidate will be comfortable with basic software and web-applications including the Microsoft Office Suite, Wordpress, and MailChimp.Self-motivation and ability to multitask are essential, as are excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service.
