The University of South Carolina Institute for Families in Society (IFS) is seeking an IT Consultant I. This position will join the Information Technology (IT) team at IFS.
Under general supervision, this position diagnoses and repairs simple to moderately complex problems in response to customer reported incidents. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains simple to moderately complex customer hardware and software; provides solutions to end user computer and networking problems of a basic to moderate nature to ensure end user productivity; Serves as technical resource for users.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 3 years experience in computer systems development and modifications; or a high school diploma and 7 years computer experience,•Experience with Microsoft OFFICE 365 suite of products; general knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 Operating Systems.
•Experience in assisting end-users with email (i.e., PC, MacOS, Andriod, iOS)
•Experience with troubleshooting and repairing PC hardware.
•Experience with Help Desk ticketing systems to monitor and track maintenance requests.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience in deploying virtual desktops.
•Ability to perform basic Microsoft Active Directory administration.
•Understanding of wired & wireless network technologies (DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP, IP).
•Understanding of Data Encryption.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

•Basic knowledge of server, storage, and networking concepts.
•Basic to moderately complex knowledge of capabilities and intricacies of systems and applications.
•Ability to write and revise moderately complex to complex user documentation.
•Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex to complex technical and non-technical instructions and requests.
•Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
•Ability to work effectively with supervisors, faculty and staff users, and IT personnel.
•Ability to provide status reports and other technical and non-technical reports in a clear and concise manner.
•Ability to work in a team environment as well as a goal-oriented individual who functions with the highest level of integrity and professionalism
