Under the auspices of the Alabama Life Research Institute, the CYDI is a state-of-the-art research, training, and service facility that brings together investigators from diverse disciplines who share an interest in developmental psychopathology and the translation of evidence-based practices. The primary mission of the Center is to develop translational clinical science that addresses the prevention, remediation, and management of behavioral, emotional, and neurodevelopmental conditions from early childhood through adulthood. Consistent with this mission, the Center has four strategic objectives: (1) facilitate transdisciplinary, collaborative, and cutting edge research related to mental and physical health and well-being; (2) provide a venue for the translation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to community and school providers; (3) facilitate grant-funded research on intervention and prevention programming; and (4) provide opportunities for student training via direct research engagement, clinical and consultative services, and secondary data analysis.
As an Assistant Professor in the CYDI, the successful candidate will have an active research lab that involves both undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate will have prior experience with granstmanship and have high potential of securing external research funding. They will be expected to serve as primary advisor to students in their home department’s graduate program as well. Faculty in the CYDI have a reduced teaching load, because of the research focus. However, as an Assistant Professor, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected.

Jones Museum, the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, the Tuscaloosa Farmer’s Market, and nearby Kentuck Festival of the Arts and Moundville Archeological Park. The city of Tuscaloosa is very family-friendly and popular with outdoors enthusiasts as it boasts an active concert venue, a popular farmer’s market, the Black Warrior RiverWalk, and many family-focused events throughout the year.
