Position Description:
The UCLA Department of Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences (EPSS) is searching for an experienced technician to join its magnetometer engineering team. The development technician performs detailed assembly of hardware and electronics for spaceflight scientific instruments in support of multiple NASA missions. The position also assists in the development of novel measurement systems and construction of ground support equipment for magnetic instrument testing.
Incumbent must be skilled in hands-on fabrication of electronics and mechanical systems, possess clear written and communication abilities, and have experience working in a controlled laboratory environment. Previous or current certification in any of the following standards is highly desirable: NASA-STD-8739.1 (Polymeric), NASA-STD-8739.4 (Crimp and Harness), NASA STD 8739.7 (Electrostatic Discharge), IPC J-STD-001 (Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies), IPC J-STD-001xS (Space Addendum).
