Position Purpose

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Dental Hygiene Program Manager, the Adjunct, Supervising Dentist performs the following functions:
- Reviews health histories
- Orders radiographs
- Approves sealants
- Performs cursory exams
- Reviews dental chartings for decay and/or defective issues on each clinical patient
- Approves and interpret Dental X-Rays
- Follows OSHA and workplace safety guidelines
- Identifies referrals for patients
- Prescribes/dispenses medications as needed
- Is available to answer questions regarding the health history, pathology, and clinical treatment
- Assists in the management of medical emergencies
- Serves as a resource to questions that faculty/students may have regarding patient care
- Is present if needed for ADEX Board Examinations, CODA site visits
- Provides instruction and evaluation in the clinical setting
- Assists in the coordination of all dental clinic activities
- Provides state-mandated supervision for applicable dental procedures
- May administer local anesthesia and work with patients
- Interacts with students in a teaching environment
- Participates in faculty/staff meetings/calibration meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean, Program Manager, and/or department chair

- Knowledge of college and d department policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations
- Complies with CODA accreditation standards
- Exhibits professional behavior while assisting with the needs of students, faculty, staff, visitors and co-workers
- Conducts self with professionalism and respect toward others
- Participates in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned
- Perform additional duties or job functions that are required and deemed necessary by supervisory personnel
- Maintains student and patient confidentiality
- Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree is required
- Unencumbered dental license in the State of Ohio is required
- Current Health Care Provider, CPR training is required
- Clinical teaching experience in a dental hygiene/ dental program preferred
- Experience as a supervising dentist in a teaching environment preferred
