SUMMARY:

The Adjunct Faculty serves as a temporary Non Tenure Track position in The Department of Political Science and will be responsible to teach up to six semester credit hours within the discipline either on campus or online. The position is required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successful applicants will teach up to six semester credit hours within the required discipline at on campus or off-campus sites as dictated by student demand, hold office hours and assist students as needed.
  • Advise students;
  • Prepare syllabi;
  • Update course materials;
  • Develop curriculum;
  • Deliver instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs;
  • Provide service to the department, college, university and public schools, and community; and
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Master degree or Juris Doctor
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Good written and oral communication skills. Commitment to high quality teaching. Dedication to high standards and student success. Demonstrated expertise in the subject area is required.
  • Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.
  • College or University teaching experience.
  • A degree of familiarity with online teaching
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • The degree must be in hand at the time of hiring.
