Hodges University is a private, not-for-profit, regionally accredited university located in southwest Florida and primarily serves working adult students. The Fort Myers Campus boasts a newly renovated state-of-the-art Health Sciences facility that includes smart classrooms, and nursing skills and simulation labs, with diverse high fidelity manikins and equipment. This technology affords students and faculty the opportunity to have innovative, leading-edge learning and teaching resources. In addition to the Nursing Programs, the newly renovated School of Health Sciences building houses the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, Physical Therapist Assistant Program, EMT and Paramedic Programs, and Dental Programs, supporting a culture of interprofessional healthcare educational experiences.
The University is regionally accredited by SACSCOC and approved as a Level III institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees. The BSN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The BSN Program consist of a night/weekend curriculum designed for completion in 4 consecutive 16-week semesters for a total of 60 credit hours. The Practical Nursing (PN) program is approved by the Florida Department of Nursing and designed for completion in 3 consecutive 16-week semesters for a total of 36 credit hours.
Hodges University is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated nurse faculty to teach and lead the Practical Nursing program. The faculty will report to the Program Director of the nursing academic unit and work collaboratively on the development and administration of the Practical Nursing program to include managing the curriculum, scheduling classes, submitting reports and continuous program improvement.
The nursing programs enjoy a rich tri-county clinical resource access area for authentic clinical experiences. Community engagement and collaboration are key to the Hodges University mission and values. We are student mindful in supporting their aspirational and educational goals in a professional faculty-student partnership. Faculty will participate in (1) teaching Practical Nursing courses in campus, blended and online formats; (2) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work; (3) collaboration with colleagues, (4) advising students and (5) supervising students field experiences.
The anticipated start date for the successful candidate will be December 1, 2020.
- An earned baccalaureate degree.
- Current and unrestricted professional Registered Nurse license issued and/or recognized by the state of Florida.
- Practice experience as a nurse clinician, preferably as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in campus and online nursing courses.
- Evidence of the ability to supervise and collaborate with colleagues in the academic, clinical, and community settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge and compliance with the Florida Board of Nursing Practice Act.
- Evidence of sustained professional development, professional service, professional scholarship, and advocacy in nursing.
