Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Chemist shall participate in a Department of Defense awarded project with an emphasis on the synthesis and characterization of inorganic crystalline materials. The Postdoctoral Chemist shall be responsible for designing and synthesizing crystalline materials; searching pertinent scientific literature; collecting, preparing, and analyzing experimental data; operating and maintaining the X-ray facilities; supervising and training undergraduate researchers; preparing and writing paper in peer-reviewed journals; presenting research data in regional and national conferences; and overseeing regular laboratory safety.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in chemistry required. Postdoctoral Chemist is expected to have knowledge and experience in crystal growth (hydrothermal and solid-state methods), single crystal XRD, and other analytical techniques, including powder XRD, FT-IR, UV-Vis-NIR, TGA, SEM-EDS, etc. He/she must possess strong organizational and project management skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.  Must be motivated to work with undergraduate researchers.
