Accounting Oversight: Provides oversight of the accounting functions in University Housing and manages daily activities of accounting staff. Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. Responsible for organization and accuracy of University Housing books including cash journals and general ledger and ensuring the University Housing records reconcile with the University's accounting system.

Accounting Tasks: Oversees accounts receivable and performs monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable for student housing accounts for multiple semesters. Prepares general journal entries and quarterly financial statements.

Process Improvement & Training: Leads staff development efforts for Business Office staff including goal setting, coordinating training to new accounting and cashiering staff and continued training for existing accounting staff. Monitors and analyzes accountant work to develop and implement new procedures to enhance workflow of the department. Provides input for the development and/or improvement of internal control procedures, process documentation, and other pertinent procedures.

Special Projects: Participates in short and long range planning related to the business functions in Housing. Responds to requests from the Vice President's Office, Executive Director, and Associate Director of Budget & Finance regarding financial results, accounts receivable, and other special reporting requests.

Responds to monitoring/audit requests, as needed. Addresses individual student/parent housing account inquiries. Advises staff on how to handle non-routine questions from students/families.Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience related to the duties of this position.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Experience in accounting oversight, accounts receivable and monthly reconciliations.

Ability to conduct audits and investigations

Ability to train and supervise employees.

Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.

Experience or knowledge of electronic data process as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.

Knowledge of applicable computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), and basic computer functions.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Preferred Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.Anticipated Salary Range Salary is commensurate with experience.Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
