Texas A&M University- San Antonio invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling faculty position in the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology to begin Fall 2021. Applicants must be certified in School Counseling and have documented experience as a Professional School Counselor in a public-school setting.
The successful candidate will teach graduate classes in the Counseling Program and will assist in the development/teaching of School Counseling; maintain an active research agenda; supervise master's level students; assist with CACREP accreditation process; fulfill service responsibilities to the Department and the University; and contribute to advancing the counseling profession. Responsibilities also include working collaboratively with other colleagues in the Department, the College of Education and Human Development, and the University; as well as with community partners. Faculty members will also be expected to supervise practicum students.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in counselor education, with an emphasis in professional school counseling from a CACREP accredited program
18 graduate hours specifically related to School Counseling
Professional School Counselor Certification
Documented experience as a Professional School Counselor in a public-school setting
Commitment to the professional field of School Counseling and Counselor Education, demonstrated by membership in state, regional, and/or national counseling organizations
Evidence of scholarly potential/productivity
Experience working with culturally diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and ASCA National Model
Experience with CACREP accreditation process
Teaching experience in higher education including advising and supervising graduate students
A minimum of five years of experience as a Professional School Counselor in a public-school setting
Professional School Counselor (PSC) and National Certified School Counselor (NCSC)
