Position Description:
As Chief of Staff, works as a member of the administrative management team to ensure the effective operation of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, including the BruinX Team and the new Civil Rights Office, which encompasses the existing Title IX Office, Discrimination Prevention Office (DPO), and Staff, Diversity & AA/EEO Compliance Office (SD&C). As Executive Assistant, the incumbent independently manages the daily and long-term schedules of the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (VC EDI).

The incumbent's duties are carried out at the highest level of the institution, involving close coordination with the offices of the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, other vice chancellors, associate and assistant vice chancellors, and academic deans. It includes significant contact with all areas of the campus, with alumni, and with community leaders. Other liaison duties include the UC Office of the President and other UC campuses. Serve as point person in coordinating and communicating on the VC EDI's behalf with numerous campus entities at all levels with the utmost confidentiality. Independently compiles confidential briefing materials to help prepare the VC EDI for meetings and presentations.

The incumbent independently coordinates heavy flow of incoming and outgoing communication, including management of complex VC EDI calendar and travel schedule. The incumbent is responsible for administrative planning, office management, communications, analysis, and writing. Responds to activities, issues and initiatives of the VC EDI in an environment of complexity and urgency that requires creative action, often at times that are not standard to the regular work day.
