                                           IT Administrator III

The University of Tennessee’s Office of Information Technology is seeking to hire an IT Administrator.

As an IT Administrator III you will be a key member in the UTK Office of Information Technology’s Systems Shared Services team. You will be working under supervision of senior staff for large-scale projects and new implementations and working independently on smaller projects. This position deploys and manages computer systems and writes and maintains software applications. This IT Administrator must be an experienced Linux System Administrator who will design, install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot systems and services. This IT Administrator serves as the Subject Matter Expert for the Puppet configuration management system and for monitoring software for systems, web sites, storage used with enterprise servers, and containerization environments. This IT Administrator manages and maintains system monitoring as well as SAN administration. This position servers as a senior member of service area teams. Work is completed with little or no oversight and overall accuracy and quality is expected.


Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor Degree in a related field or equivalent related experience.
•Five years of IT-related experience

JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:
•Advanced skills in effective communication, thoroughness, team work and service area expertise.
•Advanced skills with administering Linux including patching, configuration and cloning in a virtual as well as physical server environment.
•Advanced skills with at least one scripting language on Linux.
•Advanced skills with diagnosing performance problems and troubleshooting operational failures.
•Advanced skills with usage and support of IPAM, DNS and DHCP.
•Advanced skills with configuration of Puppet or other automation/configuration software.
•Advanced skills with SAN array and fiber channel configuration and management.
•Intermediate skills with MariaDB, Galera Cluster and MySQL database servers.
•Intermediate skills with hardening Linux servers.
•Intermediate knowledge of Apache and NGINX web server configuration.
•Intermediate knowledge of FERPA and other PII privacy and PCI security concepts.
•Intermediate skills with developing and maintaining REST API-based applications.

Preferred:

•Intermediate knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, and 8.
•Basic knowledge of Red Hat Satellite systems-management software.
•Advanced skills with managing configuration of systems via Ansible and Puppet.
•Advanced ability to configure IBM fiber channel SAN switches and storage arrays using IBM Data Center Fabric Manager or Network Advisor.
•Advanced ability to configure Collectd performance monitoring software.
•Advanced ability to configure Solarwinds service monitoring software.
•Advanced skilled with multiple scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, JavaScript or bash/sed/awk.
•Advanced skills to configure and maintain Tenable Security client software on Linux.
•Advanced ability to deploy, maintain, and diagnose issues with the OpenShift container environment.
•Intermediate knowledge of NIST 800-171 compliance requirements and ability to configure compliant systems via automated configuration management tools.
•Intermediate knowledge of IPAM products.
•Intermediate knowledge of compiling and installing software.
•Intermediate skills writing and customizing SNMP extensions.
•Intermediate skills with configuration and support of ISC DNS and DHCP.
•Intermediate knowledge of Fortinet hardware firewall management software.
•Intermediate knowledge of Citrix receiver and Citrix NetScaler software.
•Basic skills with Drupal, ExpressionsEngine and syslog management.
•Intermediate knowledge of WordPress administration, including skills with using the wp-cli command line tool for tasks such as importing, exporting, migrating, and reporting on WordPress sites.
•Intermediate ability to migrate existing servers and applications to two-factor authentication utilizing protocols such as the Central Authentication Service (CAS) as well as by interacting directly with Duo.
•Intermediate skill administering parallel file systems such as IBM Spectrum Scale and Glusterfs.
•Basic skills with repository systems including svn and git.
•Basic skills with ticketing systems such as FootPrints service desk software.
•Basic knowledge of IPMI in servers.
•Basic knowledge of gnuplot software.
•Basic knowledge of Fail2ban intrusion detection software.
