The Division of Student Success at the University ofTennessee is seeking a Communications Coordinator.


This position reports to the Assistant Director ofCommunications in the Division of Student Success. With direction from theAssistant Director, the incumbent coordinates communications processes for theDivision of Student Success units which are: Office of First-Year Programs, NewStudent Orientation, Academic Inclusion Initiatives, Academic Success Center,Veterans Resource Center, Campus Advising, Career Development and AcademicExploration, Honors & Scholars Programs, and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. 


The Communications Coordinator will develop and executeexisting communication strategies for the advancement of student success,retention, and graduation. Communication methods include digital (e.g., web,email, presentations, videos) and print (e.g., brochures, posters, guidebooks).At the direction of division leadership, coordinate the redesign of thedivision website and provide ongoing maintenance for the division's web pages. Executethe development and maintenance of a consistent, coordinated social mediapresence for the division. Attend external meetings with Student Success andcampus stakeholders to inform the consistency, coordination, and effectivenessof internal and external communication strategies. Assist the Assistant Directorwith gathering of data (e.g., communication open rates) related to theeffectiveness of communications strategies for division leadership review andaction. Incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Required skills/knowledge/abilities:

·  Knowledge of communication fundamentals andability to translate them into specific projects.

·  Demonstrated oral and written communicationskills.

·  Ability to read and understand data includingcharts, graphics, and tables.

·  Ability to create social media posts includingdesign and text.

·  Ability to work collaboratively with others.

·  Skill in designing and maintaining Wordpresswebpages.

·  Ability to design graphics through platformsincluding Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop


Preferred skills/knowledge/abilities:

·  Ability to analyze data and make recommendationsfor action.


Required level of education and experience:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing,Advertising, Journalism, or related field plus 2 years of experience withcreating and executing communications content. 

·  Experience creating social media content andmaintaining websites is required. 

·  Demonstration of oral and written communicationsskills that collaboratively advance communications projects. 

·  The incumbent is required to be able to readdata (e.g., graphs, charts).


Desired level of experience:

·  4 years of experience in creating and executingcommunications content is preferred, specifically experience managing internalcommunications within a mid-to large-sized organization desirable.
