The Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University is seeking an experienced Crew Leader to assist a graduate student with research evaluating impacts of habitat selection and demography of Eastern wild turkey reproductive ecology across North Carolina’s Mountain, Piedmont and Coastal Regions. Primary responsibilities will include radio-telemetry, habitat sampling and data recording. The position will begin in January and last through July.

Must have completed a B.S. in wildlife ecology or related field.

Candidates with experience including vegetation sampling and radio telemetry will be given preference, as will candidates with GIS coursework and experience.

Competitive candidates will be expected to: (1) Have significant field experience. (2) Have strong interpersonal skills as daily interaction with landowners, hunters, state agency personnel, and other stake holders will occur. (3) Willingness to work a variable schedule if necessary (4) Have experience operating 4wd vehicles and ATV’s.

Required License or Certification

Valid Driver’s License (does not have to be a NC Driver’s License) Travel between study sites and field housing will be required.
