Rivier University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track biology faculty with an earned doctorate by June 1, 2021 and a strong background in microbiology. The successful candidate will join a highly-committed group of Biology and Chemistry faculty who support and who will be resolute in advancing and inclusion.

Responsibilities: Rivier University’s faculty members are active teacher-scholars who value collaborations with students and their colleagues.

The Assistant Professor of Biology is responsible for providing the Arts and Sciences division at Rivier University with instruction and support to the Biology and Chemistry department. This individual will join a highly-committed group of Biology and Chemistry faculty in the University’s new Science and Innovation Center.

Qualifications: Candidates must acquire an earned doctorate by June 1, 2021 and have a strong background in microbiology and possess a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities. Candidates must possess a demonstrable understanding of how this discipline and this position support the education of Biology and Biotechnology majors as well as nursing students. Also important is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues both in the department and throughout the University community. The successful candidate may expect a teaching load of 21-24 credits that includes courses in Medical Microbiology for nursing students as well as other courses in the Biology Major including General Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology. The successful candidate may also teach a general education course for undergraduate students: Stewards of the Living World.
