A full-time program manager will provide daily management of the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Biostatistics, Epidemiology , and Research Design Program (https://tracs.unc.edu/index.php/services/biostatistics). The Program supports research investigators at the University of North Carolina and partner institutions and contains a biostatistical service that provides biostatistical collaborations, short-term consultations, and statistical methodology support; assistance with grant proposals and protocols including study design, sample size calculations and analysis plans; manuscript preparation and training through seminars. The Service also provides regular biostatistical reviews of proposals in the NC TraCS pilot grant program. The biostatisticians of the service consist of 12 part-time faculty, one full-time staff and 10 graduate research assistants; furthermore, a faculty Director and a faculty Deputy Director lead the service.

Duties of the position include:
-Evaluating and assigning requests for biostatistical assistance for research projects, and tracking progress and outcomes of the requests.
-Participating as a Service Biostatistician by directly assisting Investigators with biostatistics requests and pilot grant reviews.
-Regular communication and follow up with Service biostatisticians and investigator/requestors for request management.
-Managing assistance requests and the needed request information (including information research), which includes use and upkeep/updates of the TraCS Central/Internal web system/database for the BERD Program.
-Liaison and facilitator between the NC TraCS Institute and the BERD Program, including attending regular meetings.
-Organize and facilitate quarterly meetings of the PM, with the Director and Deputy Director, and additional meetings as needed.
-Leading the preparation and execution of semi-annual BERD Program reporting to TraCS Institute Evaluation Team, of BERD’s activities and measurable products.
-Facilitation, administration and tracking biostatistics reviews of pilot grant proposals – occurring 3 times/year.
-Responsible for updates to the Biostatistics Services external communication (website, informational material, request submission form).
-Maintenance and periodic review of Service policies, including fee and billing questions.
-On boarding new Biostatistics Service members and GRA students, including training with system and process. Keeping up with members’ effort % and salary support on TraCS.

Educational Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience

Preference will be given to applicants with Project Management experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and having at least a master’s degree in statistics or biostatistics, or commensurate degree.
