Occ Summary

Perform a variety of routine patient care tasks under the direction of nursing staff to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment and care of patients; may perform a variety of clerical tasks and othertechnical tasks as assigned.


Work Performed

Perform a variety of roles and responsibilities which may include the Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. required. following: Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures and ambulation, enemas, skin care, and bowel and bladder elimination; Collect, deliver and conduct routine tests on patient specimens. provide such additional care as required to meet the personal needs and Participate in personal care interventions to patients of all ages, under the direction of nursing staff, provide meal tray preparation, feeding, recording intake and output, bathing,shaving, changing clothing, cleaning and trimming fingernails, bed-making, assisting with comfort of assigned patients. Perform CPR. Function as patient attendant for risk-identified patients. provide manual assistance as required. Escort or transport patients that do not require any hemodynamic monitoring. Perform a variety of EKG technician tasks as required, to include: routine and STAT EKGs, order verification and electronic transmission of EKGs, accommodation of special EKG requests, i.e., with or without magnet or right sided EKG tracings, the stocking and maintenance of EKG machines, and the retrieval of old EKGs from the Heart Station. Maintain "readiness" of HAZMAT Room. Provide assistance during hazmat decontamination procedures.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to perform all Nurse Aide I tasks as defined by the North procedures. Heavy lifting and the ability to transport stretcher and wheelchair Carolina Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide Registry. patients to various hospital locations are required. This person must be able to provide care and services to all patients from birth to the elderly. Must have excellent prioritization skills and self motivation in addition to their basic knowledge and skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced unpredictable environment under very stressful conditions. Must be able to be trained in all aspects of hazmat decontamination Must demonstrate competency validation in skills and knowledge for performance of roles and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited high school or a GED. Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Successful completion of the NCA I training as defined by the Division of Facility Services in the State of North Carolina or North Carolina EMT training.


Experience

Related experience preferred but not required.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Current minimum listing as an NCA I with the Division of Facility Services or current minimum credential as EMT with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. BLS Required
