The Director of Case Management is part of the Student Health Services Behavioral Medicine department.. The main function of this position is to support the care of students with mental health problems and to assist Behavioral Medicine staff in the delivery of care. This entails but is not limited to case management, working closely with members of Behavioral Medicine staff, acting as a liaison with other organizations and individuals in the BU community, conferring with outside health care institutions and referral clinicians, and working directly with students and their families. The primary functions of the Director of Case Management (DCM) will be to track and coordinate care for all students transported to and/ or admitted for psychiatric hospitalizations. This includes communication with clinical services at hospital, disposition planning, and coordination of non-clinical services at BU. The DCCM will also work with all students who are returning from a medical leave of absence, to ensure their preparedness to return to the academic environment. The DCM will work students and their families to connect them to resources both on and off campus, including accessing a higher level of care when indicated by the treatment team.. Clinical decision-making and administrative tasks associated with individuals presenting in crisis will also be required. This position will directly supervise the Behavioral Medicine Administrator.

Required Skills

This position requires a candidate with:

  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with individuals inside and outside of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail as well as a solid understanding of levels of psychiatric care would make an ideal candidate
  • Masters Degree required
  • Licensed or license eligible as LMHC or LICSW in the state of Massachusetts
  • 1-3 years of related experience
