Superintendent, 1st & 2nd Shift (Custodial Services)

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Superintendent 1st and 2nd Shift (Building/Grounds Supervisor I) in the Custodial Services Department.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Establishing duty assignments and work schedules for supervisors, project leaders, and custodial staff; ensuring all spaces are properly staffed and work is completed as assigned; ensuring all buildings are cleaned to appropriate cleaning level; preparing annual employment plans and reviews; approving online time entry for staff and managing staff leave time requests; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents; ensuring all custodial closets are stocked and in good order; interviewing and selecting staff for vacant positions; assisting in cleaning when necessary; promoting best safety practices; and, performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Minimum three year’s experience in custodial management and employee relations and one year supervisory experience are required. A successful candidate must possess working knowledge of good custodial practices and cleaning products as well as equipment.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum three years experience in custodial management and employee relations. One year supervisory experience.

Preferred QualificationsRequired Licensure and/or Certification

Possess and maintain valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of good custodial practices and a complete understanding of cleaning products and equipment available. Must be able to operate extractors, buffers, burnishers, vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacs, mop/broom and have a working knowledge and experience with cleaners and chemicals. Must be able to deal with constant interruptions. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to inventory, order and maintain supplies as needed. Ability to deal courteously with the public and students. Ability to work independently and supervise employees. Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of building. Knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures preferred. Must be able to learn and operate computer programs used for inventorying, time entry, customer service, communication and care of buildings.

Must be able to work overtime; before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc.
