Edison State Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the part time (25-hours-per-week) position of Human Resources Specialist. The Human Resources Specialist is required to work with minimal supervision and expected to keep a level of confidentiality regarding the functions of the office. The Human Resources Specialist uses problem-solving skills to effectively help faculty, staff, students and external contacts as well as provide office support for the Director of Human Resources, Coordinator of Employee Benefits and Compensation, and Coordinator of Employee Recruitment and Onboarding. Examples of Duties:Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Human Resources department
  • Serve as receptionist for the Human Resources Office
  • Provide internal and external customer service
  • Maintain and preserve employee files forms, records and databases
  • Maintain and order supplies
  • Process and maintain various employee reports and forms both online and paper.
  • Process and maintain leave records
  • Process and maintain FMLA records
  • Create & run reports in Informer, eBE, & vendor sites
  • Coordinate the HR monthly newsletter
  • Maintain current information on the HR web page
  • Provide support for the CQI hiring process to include:
    • Job announcements
    • Applicant tracking
    • Interview coordination
    • Reference/background checks
  • Provide support with onboarding of new employees
  • Provide support for payroll processes
  • Duplicate and distribute materials
  • Generate purchase requisitions
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail for the HR office
  • Schedule appointments and maintain HR shared calendar
  • Generate various employee contracts and salary notifications
  • Serve on appropriate committees
  • Manage insurance invoices, reconciliations, and be contact point for these businesses
  • Send out COBRA notifications during new hire process and termination
  • Complete employment verifications verbally and written
  • Complete and process unemployment paperwork
  • Maintain tracking and scheduling of new hire training modules
  • Complete other duties as needed

Qualifications:Required Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Qualifications:
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Attribute to maintaining high confidentiality, respect for others, dependability, and trust in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize work to achieve the goals and objective of the department and the College as a whole
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software
  • Knowledge of an administrative computing system is preferred
Required Experience:
Minimum of two years' experience in a diverse office environment

Required Educational Background:
Associate degree is required.

Schedule will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Occasional schedule change may be required to accommodate the needs of the office.
