Job Summary Verify and post a variety of financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and Institute policy. Compile and analyze financial data, often complex in structure, and generate related schedules and reports. May provide guidance and work direction to other accounting personnel. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Coworkers and other campus financial personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: other accounting personnel. This position will supervise: NA

This is a one-year “LIMITED TERM” position and employment is ultimately contingent upon available funding and business needs. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding, business needs, and your performance of the assignment. Georgia Tech retains the right to terminate this assignment at any time for cause or, in its sole discretion, for convenience; in either case, Georgia Tech’s obligation shall be limited to payment for hours and/or days worked prior to the termination date.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

  • Compile and verify the accuracy and validity of complex accounting transactions, often requiring in-depth analysis and resolution
  • Prepare reconciliations of a variety financial data
  • Post and or review posting of transactions to appropriate accounts
  • Prepare and review financial schedules and reports
  • Maintain financial records
  • Prepare budget revisions, as needed
  • May provide explanations and/or work direction to other accountants and clerical personnel regarding more complex assignmentPerform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
This job requires application of advanced accounting principles and practices as they relate to recording and reporting financial transactions and related data within university business units. Analytical and problem solving skills are needed as is advanced use of business and accounting related computer applications.
