Contracts & Grants Analyst Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 202009256301 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $55,000 - $108,500 Position Information Reporting to the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), this position provides contract and grants financial support to 13 CNAS departments (utility capacity serving multiple academic units) on a needed basis and serves as a trainer/mentor to less experienced Research Analysts in the college. The goal of this position is to assist the management of peak workloads across the college and work as assigned for short intervals across several CNAS departments. Provides pre and post award administration of contracts and grants. Works on complex proposals and multi-year awards that may involve several PIs and/or multiple sub awards. Develops and/or oversees research proposals, awards, and transactions related to contract and grant (C&G) management and maintain C&G records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Performs complex budget/resource analysis including forecasting, retrieving data from campus financial systems, organizing and validating data, and the preparation of comprehensive reports for principal management. The first priority for this role is to smooth the peaks in C&G activities and create analytical horsepower for CNAS admin units. Remaining capacity will be utilized to bolster a CNAS Financial/C&G Analysts Training Program. This role is defined as a career position. Long term expectations for this role may include reassignment to a specific admin unit as needed to manage permanent C&G analyst responsibilities due to high increase in submission volume. Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with competing deadlines given short turn around window.
Demonstrated knowledge of Uniform Guidance and standard federal & state terms and conditions.
Ability to be a self-starter providing excellent customer service to a wide range of personnel in various settings and responding well to variety of leadership styles.
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of UCR systems.
