Collaboratively formed in 2008 by CU Denver, CSU and UNC, the Colorado School of Public Health provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, and costly injuries. NATURE OF WORKThe Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Colorado School of Public Health has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team lead by Elizabeth Carlton working at the intersection of infectious disease epidemiology, genomics and ecology. The primary focus of this position will be analysis of epidemiological and genomic data to understand infectious disease transmission pathways, and ultimately inform disease surveillance and control strategies. The position is for two years with the possibility of an extension and available to start immediately. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with strong quantitative training and expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, biostatistics, ecology, and/or genomics. They will be able to think creatively and critically about complex problems and have strong written communication skills.The position will involve integration and analysis of diverse data sets, manuscript preparation and the opportunity to assist with design of primary data collection at our study sites in China. The primarily focus of the work will be using epidemiological and genomic data to characterize transmission pathways of the neglected tropical disease, schistosomiasis, which persists in hotspots despite control efforts. The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a collaborative research group with opportunities to contribute to additional ongoing research projects, including estimation of climate-health impacts, development and evaluation of surveillance tools for water-borne diseases and neglected tropical diseases, and mathematical modeling of SARS-CoV-2.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDThe postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dr. Elizabeth Carlton.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDThis position may provide informal supervision to graduate students on the project that report to Dr. Carlton. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Data management
- Develop data analysis plans, solicit input from the team and carry out proposed analyses
- Manuscript preparation, including presentation of analyses and critical synthesis of current literature
- Presentation of study findings at conferences
- Design, pilot testing and execution of primary data collection studies in field sites
- Participation in and coordination of regular meetings with the research team
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range has been established at $52,700-$55,600. Salary iscommensurate with skills and experience. The University of Colorado offers afull benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, includingeligibility, is located at Employee Services.

- PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health sciences, ecology or related discipline. Degree requirements must be met at the date of hire.
- Strong quantitative training.
- Minimum of two years of experience with statistical software R, Python, SAS or equivalent.
- Demonstrated record of scientific achievement
