Reviews and reconciles error reports in support of verification. Evaluates completeness of financial aid appeals. Processes financial aid of FSU students enrolled in transient (visiting) status at other institutions. Initiates enrollment and cost of attendance transmissions via FASTER. Records and updates ‘remote hours’ as enrollment in the student information system. Verifies enrollment requirements are met based on host institution data and FSU advisor approval tracked via FLVC; once approved, refers to the specialist for package updates and payment initiation. Notifies students if enrollment requirements are not met due to advisor approval and counsels on next steps. Acts as a primary contact for phone and email inquiries from transients regarding the status of their awards.

Reviews and researches errors output from systematic verification processes, including user edits and conflicting information. Uses established protocol to determine appropriate resolution. Makes edits to the relevant financial aid data. Certain circumstances may require contacting student to advise of more complicated situations requiring additional information or documentation; records interactions in the student information system. Conducts initial review of appeals, which includes counseling applicants of the additional information and/or documents required based on individual circumstances and basis of appeal. When appeal files are complete, uses established criteria to determine whether the appeal should be considered by an individual or committee. Codes and routes appropriately.

Closes incomplete appeals if there is no activity or is incomplete after the established period. Acts as a primary contact for phone and email inquiries from students regarding the status of incomplete appeal files. Supports receptionist during high volume times for submission of documentation in support of appeals and/or verification. Updates appeal workflow on the spot. In the case of both appeal and verification documents, reviews entire student record to advise whether any documentation is still required. Notes interaction in the student record.
Assists other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Financial Aid.Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years. Experience should be relevant and related to the responsibilities of the job.

The ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice is required.

Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
