Tours campus, makes assignments, and inspects work locations of employees to ensure personnel are performing their duties in a safe and efficient manner. Provides leadership and directs corrective measures when necessary to ensure satisfactory performance.

Responsible for assisting the hiring process, termination process, and initiation of disciplinary actions and commendations for all assigned personnel. Prepares employee performance appraisals.

Reviews and approves requests for leave. Reviews time and leave records for correctness and approves pay and leave reports of all employees under direct supervision.

Directs the preparation of flowerbeds for growing of annuals and bulbs. Directs the maintenance of surface drainage by keeping each catch basin free of debris during heavy rainstorms. Serves as or provides an emergency contact person for after hour callbacks.

Establishes and updates necessary files, document records and reports related to preventative maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience related to the duties of this position.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years; Relevant training may substitute for experience.)

Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position to include, standing, bending, reaching, stooping for long periods of time, lifting/moving up to 25 lbs. in excess, and working under all weather conditions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to train and supervise employees.

Experience or knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Experience or knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in grounds work.

Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.

Ability to perform groundskeeping work to include the transplanting, cultivation, pruning, and trimming of plants, shrubs, and trees, and weed pulling.

A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.Pay Plan This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
