Biomedical Science research can lead to discoveries that result in better patientoutcomes.  This research field canadvance diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive measures for major humandiseases.  To significantly and rapidlyaccelerate Georgia State University as a recognized leader in this area, theInstitute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) has been established to expand itscontribution and efforts to research and education in these areas.  IBMS is a leading multidisciplinary researchand degree-granting education institute dedicated to advancing fundamental andinnovative biomedical research that improves human health as well as educatingand training future generations of leading biomedical scientists and health(non-M.D.) professionals related to biomedical sciences.

Despitetremendous advances in biological and medical research, significant gaps stillexist between basic laboratory research and its clinical applications.  Now more than ever there is an urgent need forbridging basic research to clinical management strategies.  To meet this significant challenge and promotetranslational research from bench to bedside, the interface among thebiomedical science disciplines has emerged as one of the most excitinginterdisciplinary research fields in science.  IBMS will not only build a strong researchpresence in biomedical sciences but will also foster a unique environment topromote collaboration and develop world-class research and education programs.

They are seeking to hire adiverse and Skilled Crafts Laboratory Technician I.  The individualwill be supervised directly by the principal investigator. The scopefor this position includes these essential duties, but is not limited tothe following:

  • Responsible forordering supplies and reagents, for all the lab regulations (Biosafety, IACUC etc.)
  • Organize our DigestiveDisease Research Lecture Series
  • Operatescomputerized data collection systems
  • Assistsconducting experiments
  • Cleans andorganize laboratory areas
  • The individual will possess:
    • Effective organizationalskills
    • Effective time management skills
  • Proficient in computerskills including:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Adobe
    • Math modeling andonline communication apps (WebEx, Zoom, and Skype)

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or other natural science area; or a combination of education and related experience.
