Job Description:

Provides overall direction and leadership to Dean of Students Office programs and services. Provides direct supervision to various areas of the overall department including but not limited to the administrative area, the Care Area (including the Field and Fork Pantry and the Collegiate Veterans Success center) and the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution area. Develops and ensures that goals and objectives for the office and the university are communicated and achieved by tracking and maintaining data for the department.

Develops and maintains liaison relationships with various offices and departments and fosters connections with campus partners. Works with students, families, faculty, staff, and community members on a wide variety of issues. Responds to student problems and emergencies in an on-call capacity and coordinates emergency response in the absence of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students.

Manages the overall office administrative functions including but not limited to budgetary oversight, departmental compliance, facility oversight, and execution of the departmental strategic plan.

Functions as the Dean of Students in his/her absence, as required. Assists in the administration and interpretation of laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Assists in the development and implementation of policies affecting student life.

Serves on other office and university committees as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students or other Divisional and/or University administrator

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with Experience

Pay Range Based on Market:

(Annualized)

Lower reference point: $78,900 Midpoint: $106,400 Upper reference point: $133,900

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional or doctoral degree, or substantial completion toward either, in student affairs, higher education, counseling, law, or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience in higher education providing leadership and direction to one or more program or service areas.
  • Direct experience as a university conduct officer and in managing student crisis situations.
  • Documented history of positive and collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven leadership ability.
  • Proven commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.
