The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 51 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. The Bryant lab is exploring possible new therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer.

Position Description

The position will be responsible for assisting staff with COVID related research and the continued development of protein assays for the Highly Multiplexed Point-of-Care Digital Protein Assay Platform with Digital Molecular Capability project. The specialist will support research funded by the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory High Capacity Screening Project. With a highly multiplexed, digital assay platform, this project is able to perform high volumes of COVID-19 tests and generate results in 30-60 minutes to promote contract tracing, effective transmission intervention, and outbreak risk mitigation. The position will perform complex research procedures in support of these projects and troubleshoot potential problems, seeking guidance from senior staff when necessary. The Specialist will be responsible for gathering and accurately recording data and for effectively reporting results to senior staff in reports and presentations. They will collaborate with other team members to integrate new assays into the microfluidic platform.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Research experience performing laboratory protocols, preferably diagnostic assays. The abilities to maintain detailed experimental records and communicate effectively are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with development of chemical instrumentation is desirable but not necessary.
