Position Summary

This is a clerical position in a fast-paced, customer service environment; will include answering and directing phone calls; extensive interaction with clients (veterinarians, veterinary technologists and animal owners) by telephone and in person; data entry and editing using multiple software programs; preparing purchase requisitions; work in a team environment requiring regulatory compliance to university, state and federal safety and quality requirements. Duties associated with this position involve working on a video display terminal 90 percent of the time with some walking, bending and stooping.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in up to one year of college or technical school in a medical/science area; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in medical or veterinary medical terminology; experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, calendaring software; experience in typing and filing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-limited group environment while maintaining high quality work standards; experience with basic Windows functionality and Microsoft office products including but not limited to, Excel and Word; ability to adapt easily to various software applications; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; experience in a medical or veterinary work environment; customer service skills; experience in data entry; ability to type 46-60 words per minute; ability to function as a team member within and across multiple levels of operations; demonstrated work orientation that includes strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to take initiative; working knowledge of university policies and procedures; ability to work with accuracy.

Work Hours

Work hours are Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., but may vary and will include weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
