Position SummaryThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Information Technology beginning Fall 2021. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service, and to assist in further development of the UNT-Dallas Information Technology program. UNT-Dallas offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Expectations for tenure-track faculty at UNT-Dallas include excellent teaching, research, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course load each semester. This workload expectation can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, high-quality research and scholarship, service, and program development. Faculty are expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, online course development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, program accreditation, program leadership, coordinating service learning, and committee leadership. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Information Technology courses that include, but are not limited to Operating Systems, Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Computer Security, Human Computer Interfaces, Digital Logic, Computer Networks, and IT Project Management. Minimum Qualifications- A Ph.D. degree in Information Technology or a closely-related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching a range of undergraduate IT courses.
- Experience in teaching and developing both face-to-face and online courses.
- Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship.
- Evidence or demonstrated potential for leadership in academic program development.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skill.
- Experience in program accreditation.
- Experience in program assessment.
- Academic experience working on a university campus with a culturally-diverse population.
